I must say I am quite a fan of protractors, so when the question “What are the best protractors available on the market?” came to my mind, I excitedly started gathering information together with personal experience to write this article in the hope that it may help you find the suitable protractors. The “Total” indicates the overall value of the product. If you’re reading this, it is very likely that you’re scouting for the best protractors. There are dozens of choices for an protractors these days. These are composed of modern styling with modern technology to match it. Here are some good examples.
Test Results and Ratings
|Ease of use||
Why did this protractors win the first place?
The product is very strong. Its material is stable and doesn’t crack. I also liked the delivery service that was fast and quick to react. It was delivered on the third day. I am very happy with the purchase. It is definitely worth its money. The product is top-notch! I really enjoy the design. It is compact, comfortable and reliable. And it looks amazing!
Why did this protractors come in second place?
I like this product. For such a low price, I didn’t even hope it to be any better. It’s decently made. Managers explained me all the details about the product range, price, and delivery. Seems that the material is good. It has a very beautiful color but I don’t really like the texture. This is a pretty decent product that perfectly fitted the interior of our office.
Why did this protractors take third place?
I liked the design. We’ve been using it for 2 months and it still looks like brand new. This price is appropriate since the product is very well built. The material is incredibly nice to the touch. It has a great color, which will suit any wallpapers. It is inconvenient to use due to the size. I am going to get something different next time.
Protractors Buyer’s Guide
The Angles of Mitre Joints
You will find a protractor like the one in the picture below still being used by tradesmen such as joiners, carpenters, plumbers and builders.
In the main though this would be used to measure angles, and then use that angle to set your mitre saw to the perfect angled cut. As a little side note, these are also useful for making sure the fence is square on your mitre saw.
Video On The Use of The Manual Protractor
There are a few different brands who make these and they include:
I use the Starrett myself as I like the quality a lot and it is accurate and simple to use. I have shown this product just down below and the average price for something like this is £20.
Manual vs Digital Protractors
So far I have been discussing the manual version and these are useful as long as you take good care of them. Normally you can buy a cover for these, and for the extra couple of quid, I think it is worth doing that.
I like this one from Starrett as it is easy to read and the yellow colour makes it easy to find. Many floorers will use this type of product, and it can be a handy addition to any too kit.
There are also digital versions of these, and they offer a good alternative. Typically these will be in a combination style tool and usually comes with a spirit level. I have shown a picture below.
This type of protractor usually comes with a nice pouch, will include an LED light and have a magnetic surface that allows it to stick to the walls, where possible. These do get great reviews and as such I bought one of these and checked it out. I like it and it works really well.
If you plan on cutting bevels using your compound mitre, then this digital version will truly come into its own. You can also use this with band saws and table saws, and it is great if you plan on doing a lot of work involving a range of bevel cuts. I have also use this with my lathe and found it very good.
For the person who simply does a little bit of DIY, you can skip this one out, as in my opinion you will probably never need it. I also found with this that it really only works on the verticals and can not really be used on the horizontal planes.

Within a 3D modeling program, groups will need to design their layouts for the protractor. The maximum height of extrusion allowed should be set by the instructor to limit the filament being used, but 50 mm is a good place to begin. The height of the protractors should not exceed mm to limit printing time and material use.
When printing, it is advisable to print at least perimeter layers thick, so take this into consideration during the design. Each perimeter layer is 0.mm thick.
To ensure that everything measures out accurately, groups will check their classmates’ designs prior to showing the instructor. The instructor will need to confirm the students’ designs as best as possible before sending it to print.
Once the design has been printed, students will clean it up and verify all measurements for accuracy with a ruler and a protractor. The real test will be to see how accurate the angle measures are.
Each one of these questions can provoke thoughtful responses that are rich in mathematical reasoning.
Just like in a Research and Design lab for major companies, the feedback and reflection on these projects will be the best part. Give students an opportunity to talk within their group and among their classmates to seek advice on improvements. After completing their print, groups will then proceed to:
For the advertisement, students have the option of their medium. Whether it is creating a website, video commercial, radio commercial, magazine ad, billboard, or many others, the key is to be creative in the area that the students are comfortable. During this portion of the project, students will need to work efficiently within a deadline provided by the instructor.
Following the creation, students will showcase their advertisement with the class. Students can vote on which one is the best to use as the model for the school.

How The Toolmakers Microscope works
Like a conventional light microscope, the toolmakers microscope is also dependent on optics. Light from the source is focused (upward) on to the object, which allows the user to see the shadow of the object (because light cannot pass through the object). However, the shadow resembles the object, which allows for measurements to be made.
The level of magnification with this particular device is largely dependent on the objective being uses. However, it is often supplied with facilities to provide a magnification range of between 10x and
100x. Whereas low magnification allows for most part of the object under observation to be viewed, high magnification provides a clear image (with
To adopt the microscope for a variety of applications, a variety of attachments may be required. Given that the image (shadow of object) has to represent the true details of the object (detail, shape and even color with some specimens) it also uses a variety of special accessories and techniques, filters, lens coatings and diaphragms,
A toolmakers microscope has a robust base that allows it to hold a wide range of objects for observations and measurements. multi functional devices, toolmaker tools will often be found in most of the manufacturing companies/factories involved in the manufacturing of machines, electronics and tools. In such places, they help in the measurement of shapes, sizes, angles and positions of small components which fall under the measuring range of the microscope. This makes the microscope particular suitable for such tasks as measuring the shapes of such components as milling cutters, thread the angles by using the protractor eyepiece. This allows for the angles of the object to be viewed and determined.
The toolmakers microscope is an important device given that it allows for manufacturers and other technicians to observe and measure the small parts of various tools and electronics among others. It measurements of hardness test indentations. defects on surfaces.
As such, it allows for excellent precise measurements of angles, lengths, point to point distances as well as diameters. This made possible by a number of features of this device which include a digital micrometer with micron Least Count among others.
Mitutoyo 17808A Toolmakers Microscope
From the TM Series of microscopes, the Mitutoyo 176-809A TM-5Toolmakers microscope is a brilliant microscope that comes with a monocular head, a 30x total magnification, two-watt tungsten bulbs as well as a rectangular mechanical stage (4″ x 2″) which allows for left to right movement. With a number of other special features in place, this compound toolmaker’s microscope is designed to ensure high accuracy and maximum comfort during use.
As is the case with conventional microscopes, it is important to understand the purpose of the microscope being purchased in order to get the most out of it. This is also the case with a toolmakers microscope.
With this device, it is worth considering the type that comes with ergonomic features as well as eyepiece adjustments, which will allow for
The Right Mat Size
Start by confirming that the mat selected fits the intended frame. If it doesn’t fit correctly remove the backing to the frame and trace around the back onto the mat. Use a straight edge knife or box cutter and ruler to cut the mat board to the correct size. Then check to make sure that the mat fits.
Next measure the size of the artwork that you would like to use. Then subtract the width of the artwork from the width of the mat then divide by half. This is how much space will be needed on each side. Make sure to do the same with the height of the artwork before making any incisions.
Cutting Photo Mat
Precut the border with a mat board cutter tool, straight edge knife or straight ruler to ensure a nice clean cut. Also make sure not to over cut. It will show on the front side of the mat. Once finished, add the mat to your frame!
First of all thanks for reading my article to the end! I hope you find my reviews listed here useful and that it allows you to make a proper comparison of what is best to fit your needs and budget. Don’t be afraid to try more than one product if your first pick doesn’t do the trick.
