The popular Tetra shower system contains a thermostatic bar valve
Electric showers are quick and convenient way to install a shower in almost any home. They contain their own heating units and so don’t need to be connected to a hot water feed, making them ideal for installing in en suites or downstairs shower rooms.

We have single-screen or folding options, as well as complete over bath screens, and other handy additions such as built-in towel rails.
Fixed shower head
Perfect for designer bathrooms, this type of shower head is generally fixed to the ceiling or to the wall, creating a clean, high-end feel. They are great for creating a stylish and elegant look, and are luxurious and enjoyable to use.
However, they may not be the best choice for a busy family bathroom, as the head cannot be detached for more versatile use. There are both contemporary and more traditional styles available, so can be matched to any bathroom look.
With its highly contemporary square design, the Tetra shower head is one of our bestsellers
Riser kit shower head

There are also lots of different designs available in this style of shower head, so they can suit a wide range of bathrooms.
Combination shower head
A combination, or riser, set allows you to have both a fixed and a detachable shower head for maximum versatility. There are many different designs available in both contemporary and traditional styles, so it’s easy to find what you want to create your perfect look.
The Mode Cubik complete shower set gives you flexibility, with both an overhead shower and handset
Shower fittings & accessories
Whichever option you choose, we have a range of shower fittings and accessories to complement the look and style of your bathroom. If you have the appropriate water system, you could add a bit of luxury to your shower
Mains pressure unvented
Unvented water systems have a hot water cylinder which is directly fed from the mains supply, without the need of a cold water tank. The water is heated by a boiler or immersion heater and has a strong pressure as it is coming directly from the main supply.
Cold mains supply
If you don’t have stored hot water or don’t want to use up the hot water when you shower, you can fit an electric shower to the cold mains supply. With an electric shower, the water is heated automatically when it’s switched on which means you don’t use up any hot water stored in a cylinder.
Mixer showers take both hot and cold water and blend them together for the desired showering temperature. They have three different temperature controls. With manual control, your shower temperature may vary depending on changes to the incoming water supply.
Pressure balancing mixers compensate for an imbalance in pressure between the hot and cold water supplies, providing you with a stable showering temperature. This is particularly useful for combination boiler installations which often have imbalances between the hot and cold supplies.
Thermostatic mixer showers are great for families with young children or the elderly as they monitor the incoming water temperature and adjust it to provide a comfortable showering temperature.
Mixer showers are ideal if you have lots of stored water from a combi boiler or large hot water cylinder and generally provide a faster flow than electric showers. If your home has a low pressure system, you can install a pump to increase the flow for a more powerful shower.
Power showers require a supply of both hot and cold water, which is then blended to the optimum temperature. They’re designed for low pressure gravity fed systems and are available in manual and thermostatic versions. Power showers have an inbuilt pump so are able to significantly increase the flow rate from a gravity fed system.
Power showers are a great option if you have low water pressure in your home but they can use a lot more water. This is important to consider if your home has a water meter or a small supply of stored hot water.
Digital showers allow you to set the right temperature and flow of your water from a control panel. If your shower has a wireless remote control, the control panel can be located within a metre radius of the shower which means you can turn the shower on and wait for it to warm up to the desired temperature before getting in. You can also pre-programme the water temperature to suit your personal preferences, giving you complete control.
There are two different types of digital showers: a low pressure variant which has an inbuilt pump as part of the valve and a high pressure variant. Which type of digital shower you choose will be dependent on your water pressure and system.
A processor box is connected to the shower’s controls though a wireless remote control and blends the hot and cold water supply to the required temperature using a digital thermostatic mixing valve. Water is delivered to the shower head through the riser rail, celling or wall, so there’s no pipes on show. The processor box can also be hidden so it isn’t on display within your bathroom.
Thermostatic temperature control
A thermostatic shower provide a constant water temperature, which isn’t affected by the use of other household items. This prevents spikes in temperature which could lead to scalding. Manual temperature control showers do not have this.
From clear and patterned to 3-fold and 4-fold, our range of shower screens offer great protection against water spray.
Boost the water strength and overall performance of your mixer shower with a pump. A pump is used to simultaneously boost hot and cold water supplies so you can enjoy a more powerful shower.
Hydroluxe Ultra-Luxury (Most Versatile & Economical)
Our recommendation for the most versatile shower head is the Hydroluxe Ultra-Luxury. This shower head is a in one package. It offers a wall-mounted shower head and a detachable hose. They can be used individually or together at the same time.
This shower head boasts an incredible 2full and combined water flow patterns. full setting high power shower head and hand shower settings. The hand power settings include: Power Rain, Massage, Water-saving Economy, and Pause. The different settings and water flow patterns will make every shower a perfect shower.
The Hydroluxe Ultra-Luxury wall-mounted shower head is made of an oversize 4-inch chrome face to ensure durability and maximum water coverage. While the detachable shower head comes in feet of super flexible stainless steel hose for maximum reach and puncture resistance.
The Hydroluxe Ultra-Luxury has a patented 3-way Water Diverter with an anti-swivel lock nut to guarantee the most pleasurable showering experience. It also comes with conical brass hose nuts for easy hand tightening and no tools are required when installing this wonderful shower head.
This shower head is also backed by a limited 10-year warranty to ensure customer satisfaction.
Think of all the different features your missing out on with an old basic shower head. A newer shower head will have multiple spray patterns and many different modes like massage and pulsate to suit your needs.
With this system, you can use the hand held or wall mounted individually or combined for two streams at once. This is a fantastic feature. Being able to target specific areas with the hand-held while maintaining a nice stream of water down your back on the wall mounted shower head.
The drawback to this type of shower head is that it usually comes in a single setting. They also require a wall mount or be directly mounted to the ceiling.
Not every home will have high pressure, this can be due to a number of factors. Having high pressure during shower allows a much deeper relaxation feel and will leave you feeling rejuvenated. Unfortunately, trying to fix the water pressure in your house may be a costly and painstaking idea.
Paying attention to your budget
Another important thing to consider when buying a shower head is your budget and how much more are you willing to spend. If you are looking for a budget-friendly shower head then you should probably stick to traditional shower head model but if you money is not an issue for you and you would like a shower head with the best features, then you could consider a handheld showerhead, rain shower head, water saving shower head, and so on. Remember that a simple shower head would always be cheaper than a designer shower head.
Consider the Water Temperature option
One important thing to keep in mind when searching for the right shower head is that make sure it won’t cool down the hot water in order to provide more water pressure.
However, there are many shower head manufacturing companies these days who are dealing with this issue by using technology that can increase the water pressure while keeping it hot.
Buying a high quality shower that meets your requirements is an important part of your new bathroom, and we understand that it can be difficult trying to choose the right one when you’re confronted with a load of jargon that doesn’t make much sense. So, to make things clearer, here’s some words and phrases you may come across when shopping for a new shower.
Measured in litres per minute, the flow rate is the amount of water different showers generate, which will depend on the type of shower system and water system in your house. The higher the flow rate, the higher the volume of water, therefore resulting in a more powerful shower.
Manual shower valves
Easy to use, manual shower valves typically feature a single lever that controls both the temperature and flow rate. Manual shower valves have no thermostatic control, which means that if someone turns on a tap or flushes a toilet in another bathroom, the water can run scalding hot or freezing cold.
Exposed shower valves
If you have a solid brick wall, exposed shower valves are a good choice. Only the hot and cold water pipe feeds need chasing in within the wall, not the whole valve, which will reduce the installation cost.
Concealed valves can be positioned on a wall away from the outlet, so you could install the valve close to the shower entrance on one wall, but then place the shower kit within the shower enclosure on the opposite side. Exposed shower valves do not offer the same flexibility as you are limited by the shower hose length.
Delivering a superb showering experience, shower panels incorporate body jets, large fixed shower head and a shower handset. Available in a range of stylish designs, thermostatic shower panels are a great option for creating a contemporary look. Easy to install and use, a shower panel requires a hot and cold water feed, usually with a minimum of 2.0 bar pressure.
Suitable for fully modulating combi boilers, pumped water systems and high pressure unvented heating systems, shower panels feature a thermostat to regulate the temperature, which prevents extremes of heat. They also have a diverter so you can switch between the different outlets.
Hand showers can be supplied as part of a slide rail kit or rigid riser shower kit. They can also be supplied with a hose and wall bracket or simply on their own. Slide rail kits are a very popular option as they are easy to install and are really practical too. Connected to a flexible hose, the hand shower slots into a bracket, which can be moved up and down the rail. The hand shower can be removed from the holder allowing you to clean your shower enclosure with ease. install a thermostatic mixer shower
Shower handsets are smaller than a fixed shower head and are connected to a flexible shower hose. Available in modern and traditional styles, a shower handset can be part of a slide rail kit, rigid riser kit or a bath shower mixer tap. You can also purchase them on their own if you’re looking to replace an old shower handset or with a bracket that you connect to the wall. The handset can be removed from the bracket, which allows you to rinse and clean around your bath or shower enclosure with ease.
Again, shower kits are available in a choice of styles ranging from the modern to the traditional. Shower kits usually include a riser rail, shower handset, hose and some may include an outlet elbow. The rail fits to the wall, and the handset can slide up and down on a bracket so you can adjust the height to suit you.
This is certainly a more advanced model of a pressure balance valve.
It preserves constant temperature but unlike the conventional pressure balance valves, the thermostatic model preserves constant pressure.
The thermostatic valve is much more expensive than a basic pressure-balance valve.
These may be retrofitted into established bathrooms or purchased for fresh construction.
They are offered as full pre-fabricated shower systems with distinctive doors. This doors will help seal off in steam or as individual components which can be mounted in a tailor-made shower stall.
With digital controls, you will have the chance to have a multi-sensory experience at the click of a button.
You can program your shower buttons to control flow intensity, music, ambient lighting, and temperature from your personal collection.
Kohler sells its DTV Digital Interface, but you will need to add a media server and a thermostatic valve.
You will also require a digital wiring expert to connect your main control panel.
As well as selecting the perfect type of shower unit for your needs, you also want to select your shower accessories and enclosure.
D-shaped, square, and rectangular-shaped shower enclosures available, and fit perfectly into most bathrooms.
Quadrant and pentagonal enclosures are best appropriate to corner areas.
Assess the space and create a plan of the room, so that you may see how an enclosure will best fit into that space.
If you simply want to set up a new shower unit over your bathroom, you won’t require a shower tray.
Different water units may influence your selection of showers. Most homes are usually constructed with one of three kinds of water units, namely:
Know before you go
Do you need a handheld shower head? Handheld a fixed shower head when sitting in the bracket, but they can also be removed to focus spray on a particular body part. Many users say they find a handheld model with a long hose handy for cleaning the shower enclosure or for washing so it probably isn’t worth choosing a handheld unless you really need it.
What spray pattern do you prefer? Some users like a firm, invigorating spray, while others prefer the gentle trickle of a rain shower. Some like a traditional wide spray that provides a lot of coverage, while others prefer a pulsing massage jet. Whatever shower style you like best, look for a shower head that does a good job on that spray setting. If you’re the only one who will use the shower, then you probably don’t have to worry about additional settings; most tend to pick a single spray pattern they like and stick with it. However, if you share a bathroom with someone else who prefers a different spray pattern, then look for a shower head that suits both of you.
How tall are you? Some short. A very large shower head, for instance, may hang down too far for tall they’re so high up that short users can’t reach them to change the settings. If you’re particularly tall or short, measure your shower enclosure before you buy and figure out what the height and angle of the shower head will be once it’s installed.
How strong is the water flow rate of 2.gpm, can still deliver a strong enough stream to satisfy most users. However, people with low water pressure in their homes often find that rinse away soap and shampoo. Many manufacturers are responding to this issue with technologies that help force the water our more strongly, or at least make it feel as if the pressure is higher.
Do you need an extension arm? If you find a shower head you like but it seems as if it’s too far away to be fully effective once it’s installed — or if you have high ceilings — a shower arm pipe extension can be purchased in the plumbing department. It will add to the cost and is an extra installation step, albeit a simple one. Most manufacturers also have an extension that’s recommended for that specific shower head, and you can often purchase them at the same time to ensure they’re a good fit. Things
What’s to come
As water becomes an increasingly scarce resource and many areas struggle with years-long droughts, local and state governments are responding with ever more rigorous water use which we cover in a separate report.
In the case of shower
Online or Offline
Again, there is no right or wrong answer about whether it is best to buy your new shower in a traditional high street store, or online. There’s a general perception that buying online is cheaper, but that’s not always the case when you add in delivery charges. Make sure you consider all of the options before making your decision. Most large websites have great customer service lines and online chat facilities so you can make sure you get all of your queries answered before hitting the “buy” button.
Accessories and Additional Features
If you’re in the market for a very basic shower, then thinking about extra features might not apply. Most of us like a little touch of luxury though, and there are lots of optional extras which can transform your average shower into something really special. Some items are entirely practical, such as a pump which will increase the flow of the water from the shower head or a shower seat which will allow someone with mobility issues to shower in comfort. (We have a buying guide for that too). Other accessories like televisions, fancy lighting or remote controls are becoming more commonplace, but are still going to add considerably to the overall budget and the complication of finding someone who knows what they are doing to fit it for you.
Where steam showers are used.
Steam showers can be mostly used in health clubs or gymnasium. They are suited in these locations because they are needed in soothing aching joints, relaxing muscles, or even invigorating tired bodies. For the latest period, steam shower manufacturers have developed the home spa market. Homeowners now have a wide range of products they can access, ranging from complete steam shower units to special equipment designed to add steam capabilities to conventional showers.
Also, one can create ultimate comfort by installing steam showers in the residential bathrooms.
The fitting of fiberglass door
Most of the steam showers have fiberglass door that designed so as to fit flush against the doorway. In this regard, no steam will have to escape steam shower into the cold air. The design feature furthermore ensures there is consistency in the flow of hot steam that envelops the cubicle.
Luxury Steam Shower Suites
Modular Steam Shower Units • Made from easy-to-clean acrylic- waterproof enclosures designed to keep water vapor from escaping the shower towards the rest bathroom, here, it may damage paints, walls, or wallpaper. • Basic models are configured and sized to fit the space of a conventional shower unit/bathtub —as a result, replacing existing tub can be easily done with no excessive reconstruction. Some of these have been designed for easy installation and the hookup to plumbing.

Factors to Consider Before Purchasing a Shower Filter
Before you jump up and purchase a water filter for your shower head, you should first consult your apartment complex (if you live in one).
Some management companies for apartment complexes do not allow any “editing” to be done by the tenant, and all improvements must be approved by the management company, or at least done by the maintenance company hired.
If you don’t have to worry about this, you can install immediately and whenever. Typically, shower water filters are very easy for consumers to install on their own, and you don’t need much knowledge to successfully do so.
Tips for Choosing the Best Shower Filter for Your Needs
Those who are ready to purchase their own shower filter should define a budget, and first get the “OK” from the apartment management company. Those who own a house don’t have to answer to anyone so that you can install your shower filter immediately upon arrival.
The Breakdown of the Features
We’ve mentioned that skin and hair are two things on your body that benefit from cleaner and softer water. When you purchase the Vitamin C shower head, you’re going to be able to improve your hair, your nails, your skin, and even organs of your body – respiratory system and all; did you know that this is all thanks to the filter that removes up to 99.9% of the chloramines and chlorine within the water? Without, you wouldn’t be able to benefit as much.
Who doesn’t love water conservation? Not only can you save water, but you also save money! The Vitamin C water filter ensures you’re going to save upwards of 50% on your utility bills because of the water conservation performed by this water head. With no loss in the pressure of the water, you’re going to reap the benefits of this low flow high pressure water head and filter system. You may be wondering, “but how does it have pressure without being high pressure?” meeting the EPA water sense criteria, the lower pressure and higher flow mixed with the architecture of this system ensures that you’re going to be able to have your cake and eat it, too.
This shower head is considered one of the good shower head models with a very reasonable price range.
The use of this shower head is as easy as turning a lever. The bracket that holds the shower head can tilt up and down so you can adjust the angle of the spray head quickly.
It’s a great option! Hot, cold or a mixture of both, whatever the temperature of water you like, the flow control mechanism in a shower head controls the flow of all water. It comes with everything needed to install, even plumber’s tape.
Plastic configurations, but it’s not flimsy and very sturdy and durable. The hose that connects the movable 2nd shower head is made of metal and built nicely.
Lacks pressure when on dual shower setting, but you can solve it easily by removing the flow control (between pipe and wall), and water will come out beautifully.
Why you should take our Word
After these hours of research we selected products to acquire and test.
This report strives to answer the question of which marble shower cleaner is best for everyday use on all forms of marble. We feel this guide is the best and most detailed review of marble shower cleaners on the web, and we hope that after you read this you will feel the same!
Universal pH Indicator paper
The marble shower cleaner we chose must be able to clean the marble, not destroy it. This may seem a little extreme, but most traditional bathroom cleaners contain harsh chemicals that will actually etch the marble surface thus doing more harm than good.
Marble is made of calcium carbonate, and this compound chemically reacts with acid if they encounter one another. The chemical reaction is called etching, and results in a small spot on your marble surface being dissolved leaving behind ugly dull marks on your stone, thus making the “cleaner” counterproductive. pH Balance Chart
To determine if the cleaner is safe for your marble shower, we need to determine if the marble cleaner is acidic. We will does this with universal pH paper.
You may remember litmus paper from your high school chemistry; it essentially tells you the pH of a liquid. Universal Indicator paper does the same thing, but gives you more specifics on the actual pH of the liquid rather than simply saying acidic, neutral, or basic?
You will see a lot of marble cleaners that say in their sales pitch or introduction, “pH neutral” meaning they have a have pH of around Although this is good to prevent etching, you are going to have a hard time effectively removing greases at this pH level. The cleaner will either need to be acidic or alkali to actually remove greases and oils from your marble.
As we have said being acidic is not an option with marble, so your marble cleaner will have to a pH level of at least 7, and to be an effective cleaner it will need to be alkali (sometimes called basic) which means a pH of greater than especially against tough bathroom stains like mold or soap scum.
The Marble Institute of America recommends the use of Ammonia to remove soap scum, but warns that repeated or frequent use can possibly dull the surface of marble. Ammonia has a pH of roughly 11.5-12, therefore a safe marble cleaner’s maximum limit should be around 12.
To remove mold, mildew, or other organic stains the Marble Institute of American recommends using bleach which has a pH of around 1to 12.5
Therefore a Safe Marble Bathroom Cleaner should have a pH greater than and a maximum pH of around 1or 1For cleaners like soap scum or mold remover that are used less frequently the cleaners pH can approach 12, however, for a daily cleaner the pH levels should max out around 11.
Have you ever cleaned windows on a hot day? You spray your window cleaner on the window begin wiping it down and then realize that half the window cleaner has evaporated and left streaks on your windows. Streaks from cleaners are frustrating, and effectively counterproductive and we want to avoid them at all cost.
The marble bathroom cleaner we select needs to clean streak free. We will test these shower cleaners to make sure they meet this requirement.
Streak Free Test Setup
We added two teaspoons of marble cleaner to the mirror and wiped up the surface with a new clean paper towel. We used a repeatable motion to make the test as similar as possible with each cleaning solution. Short of having a cleaning robot, this was the best we could do to design an experiment that was a completely objective judgement for each cleaner.
After running these three test we are able to say that MarbleLife’s Bathroom Cleaner kit is the best marble shower cleaner for all your marble surfaces.
The biggest discriminator for this cleaner was its ability to easily cut through the soap scum making it easy to rub off rather than having to scrub really hard to get results.
The Runner up
A close runner up is the MB Stone Care Bathroom and Shower Kit. These cleaners preformed just as well as the MarbleLife products, so we highly recommend these products from a cleaning power standpoint. However, their higher cost put them as the Runner up!
The Competition’s Results
The competition had some varied results. If you are on a budget we recommend the use of 40Stone Cleaner and the Granite Gold Shower cleaner for daily cleaning inside your marble shower. Both of these products preformed reasonably well during test by removing almost all dirt from their respective test grid and both have safe pH levels. However, neither of them did well removing soap scum, and the scrubbing in test was difficult because these cleaners did not cut through the soap scum very well. These cleaners also had little effect to the mold in their respective mold and mildew removal tests.
Comparing these two cleaners to the MarbleLife and MB Stone care products you could physically feel the difference in the cleaning power. It was much more difficult to scrub out the soap scum and dirt in test with these two products relative to the winner and runner up products.
We think that this has a lot to do with the fact that the MarbleLife and MB Stone Care product kits have cleaners specifically designed for soap scum removal and this made all the difference. Therefore, if you have soap scum build up in your shower we highly recommended you purchase one of these speciality products either as the kit above or as a separate item.
The results from comparing the different products confirmed our thoughts that these speciality products within the kits sold by marble specific companies would preform best! these two products relative to the winner and runner up products.” We do not recommend the use of the Black Diamond Marble and Tile cleaner for use in the shower. It did not do well removing any of our test variables, and was very difficult to clean with against soap scum build up. Although this may be a great cleaner for everyday use and is a very affordable solution we believe the tests showed your money is better spent with the MarbleLife and MB Stone care products when tackling tough stains in the shower.

Delta 7515Shower Head
If you’re looking for the most powerful shower head, we recommend taking a look at Delta 7515model. So in one unit you get great water efficiency while still been able to enjoy extremely good spray power. It’s also well designed and offers good adjustable features.
WantBa Rainfall Shower Head
If you’re looking for a high quality shower head that will combine high water pressure and efficiency and an elegant and stylish look, then an amazing shower head to consider is the WantBa rainfall model. It sure will impress you when you’ll install it in your bathroom.
Rain shower head
These units are permanently mounted to the wall. Their downside is that once you mount it at a certain height, you cannot later adjust it up or down. Some models only offer slight movement of the neck of the shower head.
For a more fun shower experience, consider getting a LED shower head. It features LEDs built in within the unit. So now you can shower in the dark under vibrant lights. They usually work without batteries but are powered by the water pressure, and change color according to the temperature of the water or they just rotate random colors. It’s also great for kids because you won’t have to waste time anymore trying to talk them into taking a shower. Your kids will definitely be impressed.
Eco-Friendliness of the Shower Head
If you’re looking for an eco-friendly shower head, choose a low flow fixture. These units are engineered to save water while not having to sacrifice a powerful shower experience.
Also, another great way to save water is to install a rain shower head. They work by providing a downpour of rain drops. So it seems like it is a large volume of water while still not going over the standard water flow.
Another thing to check to make sure that your shower head is eco-friendly is the water flow restrictor. So make sure that the fixture meets the EPA WaterSense criteria for water conservation. It’s a program that was launched by EPA in June 200with the purpose of increasing water efficiency in the U.S. For a product to get this WaterSense label, it has to go through third-party testing. If it meets the EPA set specifications for water efficiency, it gets the label. This helps the customer to easier identify efficient products.
Ergonomics of the Shower Head
Buying a new shower head can greatly change your shower. It’s not just about its looks, how well it fits with your bathroom decor, and performance. The ergonomic design of the shower head is also important.
If you’re buying a handheld shower head, check that the handle has an ergonomic design. It’s good if the handle has a textured surface that will give you a comfortable, non-slip grip. Check that the included hose is long enough. Also, understand how to change the spray settings. The controls should be easily reachable so the massage, jet or rainfall settings would be at your fingertips.
If you have kids in the house, consider getting an adjustable shower head. These fixtures feature the head that can slide vertically on a long rod which then can be tightened into place at any desired height. This way the kid won’t have to wait till he’s tall enough to use a standard height shower head and his independence won’t be compromised.
As with purchasing any other product, your budget should also be one of the main considerations when choosing a shower head. If the budget permits, you can find a good high quality shower head with plenty of useful features. However, you don’t necessarily need a big budget to find a good shower head. There’re plenty of fixtures available at a reasonable price. You can check user reviews to make sure that you would get the quality you’re looking for.

Their products are known for water efficiency, innovative industrial style, and reliable quality. The Moen faucets are relatively inexpensive and an easy fixture to install. So if you’re looking for the greatest design and latest shower head technology, you can’t go wrong with Moen faucets.
Kohler is probably the most known brand in the world of bathroom fixtures. The company, founded by Austrian immigrants, initially was producing cast iron and steel products. But after an unexpected experiment creating a horse trough, Kohler ventured into the plumbing business. Since then the company has been firmly established on the bath market.
The brand is mainly known for sturdy, trendy designs. In their fixtures, they also implement the latest in bathroom technologies and engineering.
Prepare the work area
Lay down an old towel in the tub or on the shower floor. This will protect the tub surface or shower floor from getting scratched or damaged by falling tools or materials. Also, if you want to be extra careful and want to prevent any shower head bits falling down the drain, cover it with tape.
Before starting the shower head replacement, make sure that the shower is completely turned off. All you need to do is turn off the shower knobs. You don’t need to shut off the water supply. It would just be an unnecessary effort.
Remove the existing shower head
If your shower head is screwed on loosely, you might be able to remove by just unscrewing it with hands while turning it counter clockwise. Otherwise, you will need to choose an adjustable wrench or lock pliers. You can wrap the jaws of the pliers or wrench with tape which will prevent them marring the chrome.
Grip the channel locks onto the shower arm so it will hold the arm secure while you’ll be unscrewing the shower head. Then slowly start turning the shower head counter clockwise until you completely remove it from the shower arm. Try not to do any sudden jerks as it can break the supply line.
Install the New Shower Head
Attach the new shower head onto the shower arm. Secure it into place by twisting it clockwise. Wrap the base of the shower head and the base of the shower arm with a cloth. Lock onto the arm with a channel lock and the shower head with an adjustable wrench, and then tighten the shower head by turning it clockwise as far as it will go.
This procedure is the same for any type of shower head, whether it’s fixed mount or handheld shower head. The difference is only in the diverter that attaches between the handheld shower head and shower arm.
Turn on the water
Once finished installing the new shower head, turn on the shower water and make sure that there are no leaks coming from the shower head. If you do find them, remove the shower head and reapply the Teflon tape. Also, try tightening it a little more. Though don’t over tighten it.
Another easy and effective way of cleaning a shower head is by removing it and soaking it in vinegar. The acids in vinegar can dissolve the white mineral deposits. If the shower head can’t be detached from the pipe, you can just fill a plastic bag with vinegar and do the same soaking by wrapping it around the shower head. To secure the bag, use a rubber band or tape.
So remove the shower head by turning counter clockwise. If the shower head is locked too tightly, try twisting it with a wrench. The removed shower head place into a container that is big enough to fit the shower head. Fill the container with enough vinegar to fully cover the shower head.
Leave the shower head soaking for about 30 minutes or just leave it overnight, depending on how soiled your shower head is. However, if you have a brass shower head or one with gold or nickel coating, keep soaking only for 30 minutes. If your shower head is made from metal and you don’t have much time to wait, you can put the pot with the shower head and the vinegar on the stove and simmer it for 1minutes.
After the soak, rinse the shower head. You should see all the mineral buildup flaking off. If there’s still some residue left, use an old toothbrush to scrub it off.
Look out for these things;
Longevity. No filter will last forever but you don’t want to have to change the filter every week. Most last an average of months, others claim to last longer. Of course the length of time before you need to change your filter will depend on how many and how long your showers are. If your filter sits idle (whilst you’re on vacation), it doesn’t degrade or fill up, so you don’t need to count this time.
Reputable. You don’t want a filter filled with ordinary sand or marbles! Check the product reviews and you’ll quickly find out whether the product does what it claims to do or not.
